The effervescent Mitch Tambo was a very special guest at the 2022 AUSactive Awards National Gala and Summit on 21 October in Sydney. The Australian fitness industry’s main event celebrates the most outstanding and innovative businesses in the Australian health and wellbeing.

Ausactive is the peak Health and Exercise Industry Association with the largest register of exercise professionals & facilities across Australia. They are big on the notion that music and fitness go hand in hand, and that music can certainly improve both motivation and mood in the gym, pilates or yoga studio.

As part of a multi-year partnership between OneMusic and AUSactive, we had APRA AMCOS member Mitch Tambo present a keynote speech at the summit, following a performance at the awards gala.

At the summit, in Mitch’s dazzling keynote speech he revealed he was among peers, stating he was once manager of a fitness club himself - much to the delight of the audience!

Mitch is a First Nations entertainer, hailed as “The new voice of our generation” (Natalie Bassingthwaite). His music is often sung in Gamilaraay language, releasing a mix of well-known Australian classics such as John Farnham’s ‘You’re The Voice’, and Vanessa Amorosi’s ‘Absolutely Everybody’, and original singles such as ‘LOVE’, in an upbeat electro-pop style. His music unites his connection to Country with a contemporary feel, and his live energy is unmatchable.

Following the summit was the awards gala, where Australian music featured in all award announcements, putting a spotlight onto what great talent this country has to offer.

Recalled by many as the highlight of the night, the audience were treated to a unique performance version of a Welcome to Country by Mitch, along with dance accompaniment by Sermsah Bin Saad (pictured above), who is a well-known dancer and performer in his own right. Together they are a powerhouse!
