OneMusic and Teeny Tiny Stevies teamed up to offer a free concert as part of a competition to one lucky childcare service back in August, where Rose Garden Kids won the exciting prize.

The ARIA-Award winning musical duo are two sisters, Beth and Byll Stephen. have won the hearts of Australia’s littlest demographic, with three albums under their belt, and over ten million streams of their program on ABC’s iView. Their repertoire is full of catchy, bright songs with great messaging for little ones.

The excitable children bopped and sang along to their heart’s content as the Teeny Tiny Stevies performed their biggest hits ‘Boss of My Own Body’, ‘I Ate A Rainbow’ and ‘Sleep Through the Night’. Their 40-minute set was a mix of well-known songs and reading books aloud to the audience.

Teeny Tiny Stevies have also ventured into writing children’s books, having released a handful in recent years. The kids also scored a world exclusive reading of their brand-new unreleased book: ‘Sleep Through the Night’!

Not only were they treated to their very own concert, but the children also delighted in showing off their artwork for their very special guests.

When asked what they thought of the day, Beth said:

What a great bunch of energetic kids! It’s really lovely to look around the room and zone in on how each child is absorbing and enjoying the experience and the music.

Byll added:

It was a special morning, we don’t play in child care centres so it was a really special morning for us, it was really nice to be up close and personal with our little fans.

OneMusic were able to document the day and conduct a small interview with the duo:

How important is it to get kids involved in music at a young age?

Beth: “Well, I think it’s essential and I couldn’t believe in it more. I think getting involved with music from a really early age means that you build self-expression confidence, creativity, and a little discipline. There’s so much you can learn through getting involved with music, and so much that you’re learning without realising that you’re learning it!”

Do you have a message for prospective childcare services that may not be using music or books?

Beth: “I guess the message is, do it! Get on board! There is so much great stuff out there available that can support your teaching. So much music that can be used as great resources."

Byll: "Music with great messages in it, and great lessons in it - delivered in a catchy form. If it’s delivered in a catchy form, suddenly the message sinks in, and it’s good for everyone involved!”

Thank you to the Teeny Tiny Stevies for working with us on this this super fun project! We hope that the children at Rose Garden Kids had a wonderful time and will remember what might have been their very first concert in years to come!
